Queensrÿche – Operation: Mindcrime (1988)

 Released on May 3, 1988, Operation: Mindcrime is Queensrÿche’s magnum opus—a groundbreaking concept album that fused heavy metal, progressive rock, and theatrical storytelling into a politically charged, emotionally intense rock opera. With themes of corruption, revolution, mind control, and lost love, the album follows the story of Nikki, a disillusioned man manipulated into becoming an assassin for a secret organization. It’s a haunting narrative filled with powerful characters, including the mysterious Dr. X and the tragic Sister Mary.

Praised as one of the greatest concept albums in metal history, Operation: Mindcrime elevated Queensrÿche from cult heroes to global icons, cementing their place among rock’s most visionary artists.
