Queensrÿche – American Soldier (2009)

Released on March 31, 2009, American Soldier is a concept album rooted in realism, honoring the voices and experiences of U.S. military veterans. Drawing on first-hand interviews with soldiers from World War II to Iraq, the album delivers a raw, emotional narrative about the human cost of war—touching on sacrifice, trauma, duty, and survival. It's one of Queensrÿche’s most personal and socially conscious works, blending atmospheric instrumentation with spoken word passages, soundscapes, and powerful lyrics.

This isn’t a glorification of battle—it’s a reflection on its lasting impact, told through the eyes of those who lived it.

Band Lineup:

  • Geoff Tate – Vocals, keyboards, saxophone

  • Michael Wilton – Guitar

  • Eddie Jackson – Bass, backing vocals

  • Scott Rockenfield – Drums, percussion

  • Jason Slater – Producer, programming, additional instrumentation

  • Emily Tate – Guest vocals on "Home Again"
